Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a wonderful condition U.S. M-1886 “Springfield Trapdoor” Cavalry Carbine Boot Scabbard, designed to be attached to the McClellan saddle. This model was an improvement over the earlier M1885, which was shorter and lacked the brass reinforcement around the boot’s mouth. These saw much service during the Indian Wars period.
This Model 1886 boot scabbard is nicely marked ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL on the side, and also has unit markings L8 / 41 on the same side. Overall condition is very good. Manufactured in the later 1880s through the 1890s. Ready to display, or fit to your Springfield Trapdoor Carbine!
Approximate Size – 13 1/2″ long x 5 3/4 ” wide x 3″ wide.
