Original Item: Only One Available. Excellent genuine World War I Model 1916 Italian Army “Adrian” helmet, which was produced under contract by the French. These early war contract helmets are essentially identical to the regular French M1915 Adrian helmets, however they were painted green, instead of the “Horizon Blue” that the French used. Later Italy would produce its own simplified version, which featured a welded on comb and single piece shell.
The helmet retains the original green paint on the interior, while the exterior was painted with a very attractive multi-color camouflage paint scheme. This type of camouflage was very popular during the WWI period, and seen in use by almost all of the countries involved. Colors include black, blue, red, and yellow, as well as the original green color of the helmet, which was left intact in places as part of the camouflage.
Features a wonderful complete original black leather liner with wool backing behind the liner band which is characteristic of the Italian Model 1916 vs the French Model 1915. Offered in overall very good condition, with complete leather chinstrap. Shell shows some minor dings, scratches and paint chips consistent with age. Ready to display!
