Initially introduced as the Model 1906, it featured a leather covered straight spring steel blade with a leather covered loop in the blade on the front. The rear has two muzzle rings which by using clamping screws to secure the practice bayonet to the front of the rifle. In 1912 it was determined that the bayonet worked better by turning the blade portion through 90 degrees. These were often called “Fencing bayonets”, and were used for man to man training.
