Original Item: One of the basic maintenance activities for the Lewis Light Machine Gun was cleaning the gas regulator cup. Since the cup accumulated burnt powder byproducts, it had to bee reamed out, since the normal cleaning materials would not remove the powder residue. Each gun was supplied with a reamer for this purpose. See The Belgian Rattlesnake by William M. Easterly, page 489. These reamers have unavailable on the collector’s market until now. IMA has found a few of them in a cache of old Lewis parts.
