Original Item: We have found a limited number of Martini-Henry Mk III sight protectors with various markings of interest to the collector. Many units that carried the Martini had the rifle serial number stamped into the brass sight protector, although this practice was not universal. All of the numbered protectors we’ve found have had the numbers lined out. The style of the numbers and the method of cancellation suggest British issue. Some have more than one cancelled rifle number. Very few available.
