Original Item: Only One Available. These are an awe inspiring matching pair of flintlock pistols that measure19 1/2″ overall with 12 1/2″ chiseled barrels. Featuring incredible decoration and brass mounts including masked butt caps with long ears up the grip. Fabulous open work side plate set into a light colored walnut stock carved in relief.

The iron locks are marked HENDRICK HOOGENBERGH surrounded by classical scenes including a man wearing a Spanish morion and a Roman emperor’s head. The maker is assumed to be JAN HENDRICK of Amsterdam who was recorded as starting work in 1672. It has been suggested that HOOGENBERGH was a section of the city at that time. Regardless locks marked in this manner are exceptionally rare with no other recorded examples having been recorded.

A stunning ornate and totally genuine pair of early Dutch flintlock pistol which have been in the IMA private collection for more than 20 years having originated from one of the world’s foremost dealers in antique arms.
