Original Item: Original WW2 marked German Bakelite Shell fuse Container measuring about 5.25″ tall by roughly 3″ wide tapering to 1.75″ in a conical form. The smaller end marked ZUNDERBUSCHSE. The interior is marked with German WW2 maker’s mark or code and year of production. All the containers we have seen are dated between 1938 and 1943. Maker marks vary from pictured example, and may be under glued in cardboard spacers. Colors range from light to dark brown. We cannot guarantee any specific requests for makers, dates, or colors. The lid and container will rarely match, as these were gathered after use, with no regard to matching.
This Fuse Container has a large screw top allowing access to the contents providing excellent protection for the fragile fuse. Bakelite was developed not too long before WW2 and basically is the very “up market” predecessor of plastic, which once developed, immediately made Bakelite obsolete. A very high quality Container of what is now a rare material, Bakelite, used by the Germans in WW2 to protect an infamous and devastating weapon of the NSDAP War Machine.
