Original Item: Only one available. This is a great example of a Great War Imperial German Field Cap (Feldmütze or Krätzche). It is constructed of grey/green Feldgrau (Field Gray) wool with a red wool cap band and red piping along with an interior canvas lining. The front of the cap bears a Black, White and Red Reichskokarde (Imperial Cockade) on the front of the crown, with a Green and White Cockade on the cap band for the Kingdom of Saxony, one of the major states of the German Empire.
The cap is in good used condition, with overall wear and age toning. The colors are still clear, with some fading, though there has been moth damage to the wool cap band, both in the nap and weave. Most of the nap on the green portion of the cap has been worn away. The cockades are both in good shape, but they do show wear and have paint loss, as shown.
