Typical of the Tuareg gun Powder flask this one is made of carved wood bowl shaped container with spout between two suspension rings to top fitted with a press fit metal spout cap. The wood circular body decorated with brass headed nails and wood carving. Access for installing the gun powder is through a press fit circular wood “bung” on the back face of the flask. Although circular the opening is such that a solid tight fit can easily be attained. Dating from the 1880s and no doubt used in the Tuereg wars with the Colonial French Foreign Legion. Ready to display.
