Original Item: Sold as surplus in the 1970s these are original almost 12 inch long brass mounted leather bayonet scabbards designed to carry a blade of perhaps 10 inches in length. These were issued with Mauser M-98 Rifles before WW1 and were found in Brazil having been issued, in this particular case, the M-1908 Rifle bayonet which had a hooked quillon.
Great for use with many similar sized bayonets these are genuine pre WW1 production bayonet scabbards, direct from Military Stores having seen minimal use. Some show Rifle Serial numbers on the frog stud.
Note: The bayonet slot is 1 inch long, and 1/4 thick at the wide end, and 7/32 thick at the narrow end.
