Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a very nice Scottish percussion single barrel fowling piece, and it definitely is quite a looker! It features a lovely spiral forged barrel, which is octagonal at the breech, and then has additional bevels to give it 16 sides, before transitioning to a round barrel. A most attractive design.

It is half-stoked and has mostly steel mounts of butt plate, trigger guard, escutcheons, and ram rod pipes, while the nose cap is nickel silver. The walnut stock is checkered at the grip. This is definitely an upmarket bespoke piece, and it features lovely engravings on on all fittings, especially the lock, which has scroll engraving, as well as a hunting scene showing a hunting dog chasing a game bird. At the top of the lock it is marked by maker JOHN PRATT. This gunmaker was located at 99 Princes St in Edinburgh, and lived until 1860. His son, also named John, worked for him and may have taken over the shop by that point.
