Original Item: One-of-a-kind. Fantastic iron cannonball that is nicely marked WILDERNESS in white paint. It measures approximately 3.75″ in diameter indicating that this is an eight pounder in British cannon ball scale. On reverse side of ball in white paint is the number 1118 which was a museum inventory number. The CIVIL WAR MUSEUM of Philadelphia was originally known as the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (MOLLLUS) and this item was deaccessed when it closed. The MOLLUS number is also found on the bottom of the ball and reads 8.6.1.24. Also included is the original auction catalog listing this item.

Founded in 1888 by veteran officers of the Civil War, the Civil War Museum of Philadelphia was a monument to those who fought to preserve the United States in the face of rebellion.
