Original Item: Only One Available. Now these are hard to come by! On January 4, 1896, Utah was officially admitted as the 45th State in the United States. On July 4th of that year, the U.S. 45 Star flag was introduced as the new National flag, and would remain so until July 3rd, 1908, when the 46 Star Flag was introduced following the November 16, 1907 addition of Oklahoma to the Union.

Only made for just 12 years, these flags are quite rare, and this is the first example we have seen. This United States National Flag currently measures a nice large 96″ x 117″ in size, about 8 x 9 3/4 feet. However, this flag was at one point longer, and is marked faintly with 8 x 12 on the header, so it was cut down. Judging by the condition of the flag, it most likely was wind whipped and torn, so the torn portion was removed.

The flag body is of wool bunting construction, with the stars separate cotton pieces sewn on, with a sturdy canvas header. There is a faded maker marking on the header, but we cannot make out what it says. The flag looks to have been in service for some time, and there are some repairs and patches throughout the flag. Also the material is quite worn, and the header has detached from the flag in areas due to the wool having torn, so it is in overall delicate condition.
