Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice in example of the Remington M-1890 New Model Army Revolver. This was basically a continuation of the preceding model 1875, which had been introduced to compete with Colt’s own Single Action Army, introduced in 1873. Unfortunately the two year advantage Colt had been well used by Colt to secure virtually all the U.S. Government Contracts leaving Remington to find additional and different markets. Still, it’s a very well made revolver, and has a solid place in U.S. firearm history.

This example still has its original 5 3/4″ barrel in place, without any “cowboy” style modifications. It still has the correct nickel “blade” front sight, which has not been modified or replaced. It also still has the original Remington monogrammed plastic checkered grips, which do have some cracks and repairs, so we believe them to be original, and not replacements.

The markings on the top of the barrel are clear:

REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, N.Y.

This indicates this revolver was definitely made after 1888, when the name changed from E Remington & Sons. The serial number 1439 is present on the edge of the left grip frame, underneath the grip. Only 2,020 of these revolvers were made between 1890 and 1896, and the production numbers…
