Original Items: One-of-a-kind set. Staff Sergeant Charles E. Doyle, Army Serial Number: 39090831, enlisted on February 25th, 1942 in Presidio Of Monterey California. S/Sgt. Doyle was a member of the 17th Airborne, 513th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Sgt. Doyle saw combat in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. Sgt. Doyle also had a combat jump as part of Operation Varsity. Sgt. Doyle came home with the 13th Airborne Division, 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He received a Silver Star Medal and Purple Heart for being wounded in Action. He is listed, along with his medals, in the 17th Airborne Book, Thunder From Heaven. We were also able to locate a copy of his Final Payment Work Sheet dated October 1945 which verifies his rank and duration of service.
