There are a lot of upgraded Model 12 Trap guns on the market and most of them are so poorly done it is hard to consider them. You see shiny, hot blued barrels and receivers, clumsy looking stocks, most without checkering, just cobbled guns really. The Model 12 Trap gun is a world famous machine for crushing clays and the early guns with Nickel Steel barrels are coveted by shooters and collectors alike. This beautiful Model 12 built in 1936, is a fine example of using the best of a vintage gun and doing a classy job of adding desirable features to make it more useable and pleasing to the eye. Simmons Manufacturing has long been known to have been involved with Winchester in helping to develop their ventilated ribs for the Model 12, and they have been specializing in restoring Model 12’s for decades as well. This gun has had the metal restored by Simmons, as well as a Simmons Vent rib added to the gun. The buttstock and forend are custom stocks of the most beautiful walnut you will find on a Model 12, custom fit to perfection. This is NOT an amateur job. The checkering and wood finish is 100% as well, with gorgeous flame figure. The 30″ Nickel Steel barrel has perfect lettering and stamps without a hint of blurring or polishing and the bore is perfect as are the screws. The only flaw on the gun is a small chip on the left side of the forearm (you can see it in the photo above)
