Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Original WWII era aviator’s survival raft in original kit bag, these were incorporated into the pilot’s seat and parachute harness in the event of emergency ejection over water. The cover reads in black text Pararaft kit; Model PK-1; Buaer; USN. The kit components are listed in blocks on the outside of the cover bag, most of the smaller survival items are no longer inside so the ONLY the raft and case.
These kits were intended to help sustain a downed pilot or life raft crew until rescued and contained items such as a poncho, water storage bag, reflectors, first aid supplies, etc. Case shows age related wear and soiling; all snaps and metal zippers work fine but are stiff to pull; removed raft from the case for surface inspection but did not inflate it, thought it might be a challenge to deflate and re-pack it. The raft has multiple old repairs, and the rubber has degraded, so it will crack if fully unfolded, and does have some tears and cracks already. A very nice hard to find kit and raft set.
Un-inflated Raft Measures 32.5″ x 50″
Kit Measures: 15″ x 17.5″
